Monica+Vitaliy_07_27_2008

Hello due to tight schedule, I am not able to put a lot of pictures on Blog.  So here is just a fiew.  YES wedding
was very nice:)  Hi End .. we can use that word;)

I have to tell you guys.   I was really looking forward to shoot Monica and Vitaliy wedding.   I knew
wedding is going to be very interesting.

Little bit about how Monica and Vitaliy found us.  Monica found us thru website.   I remember Monica called
me and one the phone and we talked about packages and photography.  After phone call we setted up appt
were Monica and Vitaliy came from Bay Area (because it’s were they lived) to Sacramento for appoitment, to
look at albums and reserve wedding day.  Obviosly I didn’t know this couple and they didn’t know me.

Right of way we started to talk about little things and this conversation came up:

They Vitaliy askes me if I travel to different states for weddings.
I told him that I do.
Than he asked me where I’m going soon and it happens that I was going to Philadelphia in May, so I told him that.
Vitaliy said “Cool what’s groom’s name”
I said “Daniel”
Vitaliy said I think I know him is his last name “Kochubay
My jaw was on the floor, from million people in the world how did he know I was going to photograph that particular person.
I never told this to anyone!  Out of shock I actually got up and was standing.

Turns out Daniel 5_31_08 wedding was living next to Vitaliy back in Moldova.  What a small world.   Especially considering
that Daniel was very good friends with my Dad.
IN FACT the pastor who was marring Angela and  Daniel flew from Philadelphia to CA to Monica and Vitaliy wedding.

OK the iPhone story is interesting.  When I was shooting “getting ready” part I couldn’t find my phone
so I used Vitaliys phone to call mine.   Above photo is Vitaliys iPhone.
Here is somethign pretty cool.  Vitaliy already stored Monica with his last name:…:) very cute… why edit later!.
This is like my cousin Lina, she changed her email profile to her future last name right when she got engaged.

But sadly there is another point I want to talk about.  if you look little bit at the top you’ll see 916.812.8200
that’s my number.  The reason why you see number but not the name is because my business never got stored
to Vitaliy’s iphone:(.. so little drama story there:0).

Guys were getting ready in Embassy Suites.

I was working together with www.Cineczar.com team. It’s always so much fun to work with them and
couples love their work.   In fact I will be working with them again this Saturday and several times in September.

img_1425_enh_blog.jpg

Very fun couple, it was so cool to work with them.   I just wish we would had little more
time in the moring.  House had so much potential. Actually I wish I could have 2 or 3 more hours in
this 10,000 sq feet custom house:)   So many beautiful rooms, walls,  backyard with fountains:)  nice…

This is called 70′s old school effect.

img_1093_enh_blog.jpg

This was definantly the most interesting “formals” that I have shoot.
It took place right at the place where Monica was getting ready.  The house
was pretty big and I thought that we have about 15 people but when we
all gattered together was was 50+ people.  It just didn’t feel like that
because of plenty of space.

Ceremony took place at Romanian Baptist Church.   On three languages
Romanian, English and little of Russian.   Not too long ago I also had Bolgarian
wedding, so I’m kind of use to the fact that I don’t understand language.
I thought it’s going to be harder to take wedding where I don’t understand
language, but to be honest with you it doesn’t make any differance. :)

1 Week old Baby

Good afternoon!   After very long day yesterday (14 hr wedding) I was tired.

However I checked my email this morning and my friend confirmed thru email
today that (Monday) is a good day for me to come in and photograph their baby.

So I was very exited because my wife Oksana photographs babies in studio
and I don’t really like studio, I LOVE outdoors and indoors ‘natural settings’
Studio is not my thing:(.   So today was the day for me:) THEME:
Proffessional photoshoot of baby in home.

A) Baby modeled perfectly!  meaning – no crying! :)

B) Light:  The room didn’t have too much light so we powered 2 Canon Flashes.
We paired (connected) 2 Canon flashes (wireless) through infared signal so when
one flashes fired another one fired as well.  Technology:-)

img_3086_x700.jpg

img_2874_enh_baby_blog.jpg
This image above took most amount of preparation.  We ran lots of
different light (flash) tests to get separation between shelves.
Because natural light wasn’t sufficient enough.

You can see Slave flash (fill flash) gives little light to bottom 3 shelves making lines clear.
Other wise it would look all black like it’s at the left side.

But original picture is lighter so it’s possible to make walls and shelves lighter if desired.

img_3224_enh_blog.jpg

After more that one hr  of photoshoot
baby on the shelf,
baby in the crib
Dad and the baby
Mom and the baby
whole family with the baby
Baby on laps…
after all those pictures we went outside.  And baby was still sleeping! Nice!

I went home today showed images to Oksana (my wife) and she said “Andrey we don’t have
anything even close like this with our baby girl” (she is now 3 years old).

It’s true and I wish I would have skills to create something like this for my kids at their infancy, but
I didn’t.    I just know that it takes hundreds if not thousands of hrs to master photography as art
and not many people can afford to put things aside and spend all this time learning and perfecting this
skills.

Tanya+Leonid_07_19_08_Phila_wedding

Hello everyone!  Here is the last week wedding.    A little bit about the couple.

Leonid found out about our photography through his cousin Daniel.   I was shooting Daniel’s wedding in Philla on  5_31_08.    About 3 weeks before the wedding, Leonid called me and said that he wants me to come over.  I was driving and wasn’t sure if this day was available or not.  I came home checked schedule, this day was available and Leonid purchased air ticket within 10 minutes after that:).  So it happened that fast:)!  Everything in 30 minutes.

Here is a shoot in the morning, I love that round door window reminds me of cruise ship windows or
airplane windows:).

img_7973_enh_blog.jpg

One of the frequent question that I’m asked is what is my photography “style”.
Sometimes I get email saying “hey Andrey you completely changed your style!”
And the answer is “NO I DIDN’T“.

For Blog I put 20 out of 2,200 photos, and because I have such a big variety from
portraits, to fun pictures, to candid moments, detail shoots etc..
I don’t necessary put “little bit of everything” although I try.

img_8101_enh_blog.jpg
For example, here are the portraits of groomsmen.  In this wedding there were
6 guys, but I’ll post just a few of them.

img_8051_enh_blog1.jpg

Leonid and I meet at Friday for 40 minutes talking about Saturday wedding schedule.
Neither Leonid nor Tatyana nor I wanted to have identical pictures like his cousin Daniel and Angela have.

So we were thinking to create something different.   I knew that some of the ideas
might repeat for example guys throwing groom up in the air.  So what I have done
this time, I went approximately 100 feet away from guys and used my telephoto
lens.  This created totally different kind of picture with different kind of mood.

vx5z0148_enh_blog.jpg

vx5z0153_enh_blog.jpg

When we were pulling in towards the park in the morning, one of the guys told Leonid “Hey remember
all those times when we played ball?”.   So immediately I knew this is something that I want to create.
Guys playing ball in the park.

So I asked guys if they have a ball and they did have one in the trunk.  So we played a little 10 minute game.
As you can see top right photo, someone touched ball with their hands so we have a penalty hit:).

By the way groom Leonid was goal keeper.

07_20_08_Phila_wedding_Trip

Hello everyone.   I haven’t posted for 1 week and everyone knows Monday new post is coming.   This Saturday I had a wedding in Philadelphia.  I will talk about wedding little later.

** I love to fly!    Before I use to hate airplanes.  I use to be so afraid of flying.  Whenever airplane would shake due to turbulence I use to stress out a lot!.    Now I enjoy it:).  For me not a huge turbulence is like a wave on a jet ski witch I enjoy a lot!     5 hrs in air flight seems like 15 minutes.
Why such a big change?

It could be number of things:

1.  The fact that I know that God is sovereign and everything will be according to His plan.  Due to good teaching in our church I understand this now clearly!

2.  I put very nice Christian worship contemporary music with Hi Quality noise cancellation head phones and  times goes by very fast!

3.  I was sitting in the airplanes on the way to Phil in May 08, and one guy who was sitting next to me told me he was afraid of flying as well before.  But than he read a book how military pilots test their airplanes.  He said that sometimes turbulence is so huge that they hit their helmet again airplane so bed that helmet cracks apart!
And we’re stressing when airplaine shake in the air when our soda or coffee drink inside out cups don’t even spill out!

So next time you fly:  A) Don’t check your time!  Because other wise you will feel that you’re flying forever!  B)  Put some nice music on!  Good headphones that block out a lot of noise will help!    C) Looking out the window in the airplane drags the time as well.  So now I close window, much better.

OK YESTERDAY, on the way back to Sacramento we pull towards take off lane and I see HUGE line of airplanes.  They were everywhere!

img_7609_enh_blog.jpg
On this photo you see 9 airplanes one after another all waiting for take off.
We were standing in another big line, 5 airplanes ahead of us and 5 or 6 behind us!

img_7606_enh_blog.jpg
Airplanes were everywhere.    What happened is they shut down run way due to storm.  Because the waiting
time was more than 45 minutes, pilots turned off engines and we were just sitting there!  Some people
OK others were MAD!  They were like “what weather problems?!” look out of the window for starters!

img_9805_blog.jpg

Anyway after 50 minutes of waiting they gave us another air route 30 miles away from storm, but we could
still see the storm!  Very beutiful.

Alina+Andrey_7_12_08_wedding

Hello every one.  First at all I want to appoligize for webiste being down for more than 1 day.  So many head aches.   Usually when this happens (for me it’s one’s per year) I learn so much about “coding” and encoding, security, and all this PHP and SQL it’s unbelivable.

vx5z0145_enh_blog.jpg

There was pretty funny story with shoes.   I try not to recreate stereotype images to the best of my ability.  (Stereotype)
meaning images that look too much alike.   So I try to twist things around etc.   Anyway in the morning I was photographing
shoes and bride and make up artist where in same room at the right side of us.   So I ask videographer outloud

Igor, you’re pretty creative guy can you create something cool with shoes?”
Igor said  “Sure I can“.
So I told him “Go for it“.

(Well I forgot one thing, he is a videographer and he thinks “motion”.
So Igor tells me “I’ll pick up shoes and on three I’ll let them go and they will fall down and you capture them falling in the air“.
I told him ”Uh Igor I’m a “photographer, this might work for video but not photography“.
And Igor said “Just go for it,  the idea is cool ”shoes in the air!”

So for photography it didn’t work that well.   I didn’t have a “Wow” shoot.  But for video it might be different.  All I can say for now is that I have no idea yet, because wedding took place yesterday.

BUT  Igor did capture close up “slow emotion” scense with shoes falling down on chair below.  If something good will come out of that, we’ll be sure to update this blog with video for you.:)

It was pretty hot today, so we were just sitting at some cafe for 15 minutes, and Alina ask me how was
photoshoot.  So I gave her one of my cameras.  So next three shoots are all taken when bride is looking at the pictures.
